Hello, friend
I'm Becky — so glad you're here.
Welcome to our little corner of the internet, where we celebrate homeschooling, home-cooked meals, and the everyday magic of family life.
Our story
Russells Loving Life started the way a lot of good things do — at the kitchen table, in the middle of regular family life. I’m Becky: wife, homeschool mom of two since 2012, and keeper of a handwritten recipe notebook that started with my Grandmother’s pound cake.
Mike and I met more than twenty years ago, and it started with him leaving notes on my desk at work — his phone number and a message to call him. When I finally worked up the nerve, he didn’t answer! It took me another week to try again, and that was all it took. Three years later he carried me off to a bed-and-breakfast for the weekend and proposed, and we were married the following June. I’m blessed to be married to my best friend.
God blessed us with two fighters. Bailey came eight weeks early — four pounds, nine ounces, a week and a half in the NICU, and doctors who didn’t think he’d make it through the night. He’s been proving people wrong ever since: a black belt in taekwondo as a kid, and in 2026 he graduated high school in a homeschool class 107 seniors strong. Bekah arrived four weeks early and has been going strong ever since — she’s in 7th grade now, on the homeschool cheer and volleyball teams, and determined to do everything herself (and help everybody else while she’s at it).
Homeschooling found us more than we found it. Bailey was born premature and stayed sick from the moment he started daycare, until his pediatrician told us he needed to come out by age three. Our neighbors homeschooled, I started asking questions — and the rest is history. People doubted us in the beginning; I doubted myself plenty. What carried me was other homeschool moms, who answered my questions and reminded me of what I’d tell any new homeschool mom today: you know your child, and you are qualified. With faith, family, and friends, you can do anything you put your mind to.
Fourteen years in, this site is everything we’ve learned along the way: simple homeschool guides, the recipes we actually cook three times a day, and honest reminders that you don’t have to be perfect to build a beautiful life.
