Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Makes 8 servings · ~35 calories per serving (estimated) · 13 min prep · 10 min cook

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients.
  3. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 mins, stirring occasionally.
  4. Makes 2 cups.
